Update 3-18-08

Hi,

If some of you remember, the original point of this accidentally weekly update was to provide a free class contact list to bypass classmates. com.  In the first six months of the update, we kept adding names and e-mail addresses to that list, and, after that, I'd update the whole list whenever it seemed necessary.  But I always planned to update the list annually, and, for at least the last two or three years, I haven't.
        That's because about a quarter of the 200 people who get this update aren't from South's class of '65, and I'm not always sure which class they were in or who they are.  For the past several weeks, I've been sorting that out, often with help.  A lot of help.  Following, is as much as we -- and I -- know.
        The interesting thing is we have working e-mail addresses of half our original class -- 150 of the 300 people.  And we can probably contact another 25 by phone.  Another 17, unfortunately, have died, and maybe another 30 have drifted in and out of contact over the years.  That leaves about a quarter of the class unaccounted for.
        Still, I always was an idiot optimist, and half -- or three-quarters -- full looks a lot better than one-quarter empty.  So maybe you'll see the name of someone on this list who you've been meaning to write.  Or maybe you'll see a person missing from this list who you know might enjoy our contact.  And maybe you'll see some mistakes.  Please help me correct them.
        I'm still using the old mailing system this week, mostly to make sure that people who have been getting the update still get it.  But next week, I'll be generating the addresses in a different way.  So if you don't get an update on March 25th, please let me know.  And if you want to be off the weekly mailing list, please let me know that, too.
        The next project is to pull all our six-year-old bios and contact information off the class home page and replace them with these contact addresses.  So if you don't want to be listed on the home page, please tell me that, too.  The home page is searchable, so it's one way for old friends to find you.  And I haven't noticed that being listed there increases spam -- I actually get very little spam at either the class address or at the one I have listed online.  But I have been contacted by several old friends who've been looking for me.
