Update 6-25-02
Hi,
Paul McCartney just spent 3 million dollars getting married. I realize that's pocket change to a man as wealthy as he is, and, yeah, yeah, yeah, he loves her. Still... Ah, well, it keeps the money in circulation.
Closer to our world, Greg Kaplan has, as he put it, joined the 21st Century. From Greg: Hello to all, I really enjoyed seeing all of your faces (well... maybe not Neil Guberman so much) at the reunion. The night was much too short for me. I wish I could have stayed longer, but was recovering from recent surgery and ran out of steam. I've finally achieved oneness with my e-mail and am now reachable at Lkaplan8@aol.com. I was absolutely afloat for weeks after that night and seeing all of you was very heartwarming. All is more than well here: my bride and I will celebrate our 33rd anniversary next week; our children, Lisa and Dan, are well and progressing on their own in the Boston area; we have two beautiful grandsons and see them once a month when we visit Boston. I'll write again and would love to hear from you.
From Hy Rosov: Hearing from Zelda White Nichols touched my heart. A teacher never knows whether his efforts in class are falling on deaf ears or maybe someone out there is listening. It was good to hear that Zelda was one of the listeners. I also appreciate her placing me in the same category with Booker. He was one of my favorite teachers, too, as were Donohue, Messner, Kiely, O'Brien, Baker, Caruso, Saffrin, Benevento, Stevenson, Hoffman and Bargman. Kind words and memories are always appreciated, especially at this stage of a teacher's life. Thanks!
From Denise Frango Baxter: I wanted to write and say that as long as folks still have mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers and memories in New York, that is where you will get the most people to attend a reunion. I also want to write to agree with Zelda White regarding Mr. Rosov. No one read Edgar Allen Poe aloud as he did. I still can recite most of "The Raven." I, too, loved his class, and I wanted him to know that. Best regards.
From Zelda White Nichols: Please post my new address: zelda.nichols@cox.net Thanks. Also, please count my vote for Vegas in 2005. It has to be one of the world's best amusement parks. And most people don't know it is becoming known for gourmet cuisine as well as gambling and shows.
A few pieces of fast business:
I'm having trouble with the following people's e-mail addresses, so if anyone has more recent versions, please let me know: Diane Fruzzetti (sweet2k47@earthlink.net), Stu Glasser (sglasser@cmal.com), Norman Markowitz (nmarkow1@hfhs.org), Ron Nelson (vettebad@aol.com), Jay Tuerk (jtuerk@deltagrp.net), and Janice Williams Teewe (janice_bud@yahoo.com)
And if anyone is still a paying member of Classmates.com, I've noticed Carol LaDuca and Dick McGee's names have just turned up on that Web site. If you could send them the address to our home page and a fast explanation of what it is, I'd appreciate it. And please send that to Roberta Grodin, too.
Also, as I mentioned last week, if you're having trouble getting onto the home page using the link, try typing or copying: hometown.aol.com/falcons1965a in the slot on your server used to reach Web site addresses. The address is usually preceded by http:// but most servers seem to fill that in automatically. Plus, I've simplified the home page address a bit so it's easier to remember. I think the problem with my link in these updates is it just doesn't seem to be working. But the home page always is.
The home page address: http://hometown.aol.com/falcons1965a
Rich
