Update 9-17-02

Hi,

Let's start with the holiday stuff -- from Roz Minsky Bobrow:  L'shana tova to all.  Be inscribed in the book.  Have an easy fast.  B'Shalom.

(I suspect L'shana tova is some form of "Best Wishes," but could someone please translate it more exactly?  When my father asked me, years ago, "What do you want for your bar mitzvah?" I said, "To never have to go to temple again," and I've pretty well stuck to that. Though I've promised never to deny the heritage or the baked goods.)

More greetings, more secular,  from Barbara Blitfield Pech:  Insider information -- I have it on good authority that all pix from our recent Florida min-reunion have been sent to Rich.  I don't know for sure when he will receive them, or have the opportunity to add them to the home page, but look for them soon.  They are good.

More specifically, from Barbara:  First, I am not entirely sure (gotta love those senior moments) if Robin or Gayle sent the pix to you, and I will assume it was via "snail mail" as we all had a problem opening the CD.  (I was able to, and I sent it on to Robin, who sent it on to Gayle.)  And don't worry about posting them quickly if you're as busy as you say.  We can certainly appreciate your favoring real life as opposed to becoming the universal cyberhost.  But tease the photos out.  Of course, you must see them first to get the skinny.  Though I'm here for you to add devious input to the tease.  It's one of my major accomplishments in life.  Woohoo.

Still more from Citizen Pech:  Although I have not spoken with Judy Hartstone, I have certainly shared in her loss, as I had to put down our beloved Benji, the family terra-poo, last October.  It was just four months short of his 18th birthday.

A surprise letter from Ed Albrecht:  Just a note to say hi.  I read one of the reunion updates that mentioned Eddie Bonlarron and myself.  Eddie was my best man at our wedding 32 years ago. I have attached a photo which includes me, my wife Louise, son Justin and good friend Richie, shot at my goddaughter's wedding 1-1/2 years ago at the Aladdin Hotel here in Las Vegas.  Also, with all the doctors in our graduating class, can you recommend one of them to send an angioplasty via e-mail? I am sure I could use one.  A Vegas reunion would be neat.  No problem with hotel space, people can drink like fishes, and not be out of place.  I have peeked at a lot of the reunion photos and have to admit that some people I recognize, but many not at all. Many senior moments have arrived. Well, I just wanted to let you know not to include me in the confirmed deaths as yet.  I will let you know when.  Regards to all.

And a quick follow-up from Ed:  I haven't been in touch with Eddie Bonlarron in a century. He kind of disappeared after he got married.  He had two sisters, Julia and Mary. I will see if I can contact one of them when I have a chance.  As far as my living in Florida, I don't know where you got that idea.  I have been in contact with Barbara Blitfield Pech there.  She and I have been in e-mail contact for some time.  I was able to review the reunion photos at length yesterday. Have to admit, many people I do not even remember. No offense to anyone, but back then being associated with a fraternity, that was the circle of friends we kept.  Still, I hope to make one of the reunions in the near future.

Related information, from Donald Faber:  Just wanted to let you know that Eddie Bonlaron's sister, Julia, has now registered on Classmates.com.  I am not now, nor ever have been, a member of Classmates, but perhaps you can assign this bit of research/connection to someone who is, and we can finally track down the elusive Eddie.

(Is anyone still a member of  Classmates.com, or is it time for me to donate another 35 tax-deductible bucks to them?  Please let me know.)

Also, the picture of Eddie and his family is now on the home page, though it's slightly out of place because I was having trouble with AOL. Instead of getting the picture in the Current Photos section, where it belongs, I could only get it onto the Reunion Photos 1 page.  It has it own link at the bottom.

Some fan mail, for Jerry Bittman, from Hy Rosov:  I always enjoy reading your news and learning what my old gang is up to.  But Jerry Bittman's personality blurbs were especially brilliant.  I find his wry sense of humor, fresh and original.  Toni Rea was right about your class's dry humor.

And from the omnipresent Ms. Pech:  I have never enjoyed reading the reunion page as much as I did today.  Jerry's beautifully funny, warm, and sincerely caring observations were nothing short of brilliant.

Also from Hy -- and others:  I cannot bring up the home page from your latest Update link.

(Yeah, it's a product of my using too many different computers to assemble these updates.  The surest way of getting to the home page is to type, or copy, hometown. aol.com/falcons1965a onto the search line of your browser, then hit Go.  Also, it seems, you have to update your bookmarks occasionally.)

Finally, from our correspondent in Maine, Allen Moss:  For Zelda White Nichols..I was one of the great gang of Brooklyn Avenue alums.  If you go the Reunion Pictures 2 on the website and click on Judy Hartstone pictures #1, then scroll down to about 3/4 way down...on the left hand side you will see a group picture of the great team from Brooklyn Avenue Elementary School taken at the reunion.  I believe that whole group went through fourth grade with Ms. Petraglia, fifth grade with Mrs. Ward
(remember her obsession with the color purple and the day her husband jumped
out of the closet with a purple birthday cake for all of us to celebrate?), and sixth grade with Mrs. Endicott.  It was such a GREAT feeling that night to be reunited with so many wonderful folks from my childhood years.  Just think about that gang, the last time we took a picture together was, I believe, 1958!!
For Jerry Bittman:  THANKS for envisioning me as a painter of New England
coastlines.  I may not have the hands-on skills to be a wonderful artist like Mary Sipp,  but I do believe I have the appreciation of what is beautiful on our coastlines.  And I will NEVER take that for granted -- life is too short!
To Bob Fiveson:  I am shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you,  to find that, underneath
all that insensitive and politically incorrect crap that you spew out, there is really a warm and fuzzy person underneath.  My faith in the sacredness of human nature has now been fully restored!  Sorry we only spoke for so little time in April.  Next time, much longer for sure.  I would have really enjoyed it.
And for any falcons who might have an interest in Human Resources or Staff
Development issues:  my freelance articles have now been placed on the Internet by the newspaper. If you are so inclined, go to: www.employmenttimesonline.com Click on "articles," then scroll down on the "articles" page to "archives" and click to that page, then click on "author," click on my name, then click "sort."  7 of the 12 articles I have done for them are on there.  Hope there are some helpful hints for anyone who is interested in these issues.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Fall and that this finds you and your loved
ones happy and healthy.
