Update 8-06-02

Hi,

A light letter writing week.  Clearly too much sun.  The best news:

From Grandma Linda Cohen Greenseid:  Joshua Harris Levine was born to Jennifer and Adam on August 3rd at 7:44 AM.  He weighs 7 lbs. even, is 19" long, and is quite adorable, I must say.  He is perfect and already speaks 3 or 4 languages, although none of them are intelligible to us.  (I'm sure that is our fault.)  He did, however, request that I bring him the New York Times Book Review when I visited him in the hospital today.  I hope he won't also ask for the crossword puzzle, as I enjoy doing it myself.  There is much to be done as the bris is next Sunday at my house.  That is my excuse for this mass e-mail.  I will write further as soon as I come down off Cloud 9.

(Congratulations, obviously.  And, diplomatically, I must also add congratulations to Rob Kelman, who had something to do with the creation of Jennifer Kelman Levine.  Also, Happy Birthday, Linda---on July 30th.)

A different kind of adventure, from Tom Romano:  Assuming I survive my mountain climbing trip to Kilimanjaro in two weeks, I definitely would be interested in flying to the Bay area for a get-together this fall.  Let me know when and where, and I will try to get there.

(Needless to say, Tom, be careful.  And other people interested in a Bay area get-together---no climbing involved---please contact Lynn Nudelman Villagran at: Concha411@aol.com )

A different kind of travel note, from Grace Dibble Kincade:  I'm back from two weeks of hopping around the country.  One of the highlights, besides visiting my children in Texas and Virginia, was lunch with Ellen Epstein Silver in the Dallas area.  It was great to catch up and sure didn't seem like it's been 37 years!  I now remember one of the reasons I left the East though:  it was hot and humid in D.C.  Hope everyone is
having a great summer.

(Especially those sweaty folks in Washington.)

A well-mannered correction, from Brian Stellabotte:  Even though my dad gave me the photos to scan, the pictures of the July New York barbecue were taken by Robin Feit, who was there.  So she deserves ample credit.  Just thought I would let you know.

(Clearly, the Stellabottes raised a polite son.)

Two reminders:

      1.  Barbara Blitfield, Robin Feit, Gayle Ulrich, Rachael Robinson and company are gathering, almost at this very moment, in Florida.  If you suddenly want to join them, contact Barbara, really fast at:  planb18@hotmail.com

      2.  The next New York area barbecue is scheduled near the end of August.  Anyone interested in being there, please contact Paul DeMartino at either: Pdem070@msn.com or 516-799-1590.

Finally, an unfortunately late announcement, from Robert Fiveson:  EXTREME CONDITIONS: OBSESSIVE-COMPULSIVE DISORDER will be airing again this Sunday, August 4th, at 2 PM, Eastern and Pacific times, on Discovery Channel.

(Robert, your secretary needs to get me these press releases sooner.  We all would have loved to watch obsessive-compulsives on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  But we just didn't know.)
