Update 11-29-05
Hi,
A restfully-edited, pre-Thanksgiving series of notes, just a couple of days late.
From Allen Moss in Maine: Hi, folks. I hope this finds you all well and getting ready for a great Turkey Time with family and friends. It hit a low of twenty-one degrees yesterday morning in Brunswick, so you know this guy is a happy camper. Best wishes and hugs to all.
From Judy Peters Sylvan: Thanks, Allen, for getting the ball rolling. It seems like November sprang out of nowhere here in Connecticut, since we had such an extended period of warm weather. Things are back to normal, however, and the prediction is for possible snow showers on Thanksgiving Day. Ah, beautiful New England! I think of you all often and want to add my wishes for a great Thanksgiving and a holiday season filled with peace, love, and happiness.
From Lynn Nudelman Villagran: Thanks, Allen. The same to all of you. And the sun is shining, and it's in the sixties here in San Jose. Life is good.
From Stu Kandel: To Moss in Maine and everyone else. Have a happy Thanksgiving. Also, I'm jealous, Lynn. Sixty degrees won't be seen on Long Island for a long time, the leaves are falling, and the weather is starting to get cold. But as you said, life is good. Enjoy!
From Rich Eisbrouch: Yep, Happy Thanksgiving to all. I think it was over eighty here in Los Angeles yesterday, but I was too busy to enjoy it. But right about now, seeing it's seventy-seven and headed higher, I'm gonna put on some shorts, get on my bike, and ride four-or-five miles around the neighborhood. Then I'll have breakfast. Take care.
From Robin Feit: Brag. Brag. Brag. I'll just turn up the heat before attempting to do errands in the freezing New York rain. Wait, let me put in the lining of my raincoat first, since the wind is picking up and the temperature dropping rapidly. Ah, the holiday season is upon us. Yada. Yada. Yada. Warmest wishes! And love to all.
Next, updates on the January Florida gathering, first from Terri Donohue Calamari: Hello Southern Belles and Beaux. My subject is the South High Alumni Winter Break Weekend. To kick off the festivities, I would like you all to be my guests for open houses on Friday and Saturday, January 13th and 14th. We'll start at 3:00 in the afternoon and go till 9:00 in the evening. Former faculty, former students, present children, spouses, and friends are all invited. Come for a late lunch or early dinner or both. I live in Naples, an easy day trip, as Barbara has pointed out, from most Florida locations. Come enjoy Naples, then stop by for good food and fabulous company. A time and place for the Sunday Brunch will be forthcoming. Meanwhile, I can be reached at: terrcal@cs.com or call me at: 239-793-1329. Happy Holidays to one and all. And love and kisses.
And from Barbara Blitfeld Pech: Again, I have spoken to a few of the "kids," and a movable feast is just not the best option. A simple Sunday brunch, on the west coast of Florida where it's central to all, is much preferred. Mainly, the idea is to be together, in one place at one time. I am also given the impression that Hy Rosov will travel, or can carpool, but I can't guarantee that Bea Massa, Eric Hilton, Gayle Ulrich, and I have the same luxury of time and overnight travel. If anyone wants to extend the weekend and get together earlier, obviously Terri is a generous host. But we also need to concentrate on choosing a brunch location and getting both a reservation confirmation and confirmations from members of the class.
Also, two notes from Emily Kleinman Schreiber: First, a small mistake in the note from Paul DeMartino last week. The date of South's 50th Anniversary Celebration is March 11th, not the 12th. Please let everyone know.
And a last reminder about the South High Alumni Association planning meeting. It will be at South this Wednesday, November 30th, at 7:00 PM. For further information, please contact me at: Cre8em@aol.com Thanks.
[Rich -- Finally, thanks to Bernie Scheidt for sending me a CD containing the missing 2002 and 2003 newsletters. It's greatly appreciated. Now all I have to do is get them back online. Perhaps between Christmas and New Year's, when I'm visiting my mother-in-law in Tucson.]
