Update 2-2-10

Hi,

The latest notes:

From Joanne Shapiro Polner:  Thanks for extending the circulation of my class of 1959 50th reunion report.

From Robert Fiveson:  One additional benefit of wearing sunglasses when you're driving in the rain is that people give you the right-of-way because they assume you're blind.  Come to think of it, at night you probably are.

From Jay Berliner:  A few weeks ago, I saw A View From the Bridge with some of my children and thought it was great.  It was well done and was a very professional cast.  Hey, Steve, which part did your son play?  I didn’t notice his name in the Playbill, nor would I have put it together.

[Rich -- As I  wrote Jay:  Morgan Spector plays Rodolpho, the man Scarlett Johannson is in love with and the man Liev Schreiber fights.  Morgan was the understudy for the actor originally cast -- probably the one you saw -- and he replaced that actor when that actor was hurt.
And we've lost track of Steve Spector by e-mail.  I just noticed Morgan's name in The New York Times.  If you Google his picture, he looks a lot like Steve.]

Jay wrote back:  You're right.  Morgan does look a lot like Steve.

From Barbara Dorin Hayden:  I just wanted to add a note to the revival news of A View from the Bridge, which I heard was great.  The play provides some "small world connections" and many memories for me.
My friend, Saundra Santiago -- "Miami Vice" -- went to opening night with her husband.  They were guests of the director.  Saundra had played Catherine opposite my late husband's Rodolpho, more than twenty-five years ago on Broadway.  That production was directed by Arvin Brown and starred Tony Lo Bianco and Rose Gregorio.  Arvin Brown also directed my late husband, James Hayden, in David Mamet's American Buffalo with Al Pacino.  I met lots and lots of "stars" back then, a whole other lifetime ago.

[Rich -- You can research James Hayden on Google, too.  You can also look at Barbara's photography site on the Internet:  http://bhaydenphotography.com   Her work is very impressive.]

From Neil Guberman:  Hi, dudes and dudettes  If you're ready to rock and/or roll, and you happen to be in da burg, come on down and party with us one more time!?!   See attached flyer.

Ellen Sue Brody Pilger wrote asking how to locate the photo of Barnet Kellman on Facebook that I mentioned a couple of weeks ago,  I checked the site, but it looks like the photo was part of an older post, perhaps now archived or deleted.  Does anyone who knows the Facebook site well know how long posts stay active, and if there's a way to locate earlier ones once they've passed out of view?  That might be helpful.

From Barbara Blitfield Pech:  I am sending a quick note, which is missing most of the information that I would need to send a complete note, but I did want to mention that my brother's friend -- and our Jasmine Lane neighbor -- Mark Hillman is visiting, and he mentioned that his class, '69, just had a reunion at one of the chain hotels on our class list in Rockville Centre.
Mark didn't like the place, but he said it was convenient and close to "home."  Also, my brother's class, '68, just sent out invitations to its reunion in July in Plainview.  I will get details.  And my cousin in Huntington is having her reunion at the same Hilton where we had ours.

[Rich -- Some further thoughts about our summer reunion:  I'm not sure we need to pick one hotel after all.  It seems a number of people will be coming from their Long Island homes or will be staying with Long Island friends, and other people would prefer to stay in a range of different places, rather than in Hauppauge.  .
I think we just need to pick a restaurant to gather in on Friday night -- preferably with reservations if there are around twenty of us.  Then we can plan who wants to gather again for breakfast on Saturday, or for lunch, or for dinner, and where.  Or we can plan side trips to South, Goldie's, the site of Molly and Leo's, the site of the former footbridge, whatever we want.  We probably all have cell phones.  We can be in easy contact, so we just have to start a party and then stay as flexible as we need to.  Who knows?  Maybe we'll all take a midnight road trip to Stu Borman's house in Maryland and toilet paper his trees.]
