Update 3-2-10
Hi,
In the order they arrived:
From Larry Rugen: Add Larry Rugen and Joanie to the list please.
As for the reunion location, since we live it Massapequa, the location for us is okay in Rockville Centre or Hauppauge. But if the group will also gather at the Irish Cafe Pub for an evening, then a Hauppauge hotel would be a better place.
The hotel in Rockville Centre -- the one I know of -- is right between the Long Island Railroad in the back and Sunrise Highway in the front, so there's a bit of noise. Also, the hotel changed hands a few times over the years, so I think the guests who need a place to stay would be much happier a bit further out on the island.
Sorry to be adding comments so late in the game, but I have been busy......
From Barbara Blitfield Pech: Posted on the Facebook alumni page: "THE ROCKING CLASS OF 1965 IS PLANNING A REUNION JULY 16-18. WE HOPE THAT YOU WILL JOIN US TO MAKE THIS ANOTHER WONDERFUL WEEKEND CATCHING UP WITH DEAR FRIENDS AND MAKING NEW LIFETIME MEMORIES... IT WON'T BE THE SAME WITHOUT..YOU!"
PS. I edited the entry to include Long Island as the location.
From Art Halprin: Sorry I have not responded sooner. I would be interested in the reunion and likely can coerce a number of others such as Dennis Pizzimenti and Jerry Bittman to attend.
From Allen Moss: Hey, Out-of-Town Falcons...Moss in Maine here. Should we be thinking about maybe one hotel/motel and trying to book a block of rooms in it? Also, I was wondering about inviting some of our teachers. If we all decided to do that, where would we invite them, so we could have a chance to socialize?
[Rich -- My guess is the teachers could pick any of our events that are most convenient: Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, or Sunday morning. Or they could come to all of them, like a year's pass to Disney World.]
From Bill Linkner, forwarded from Desi Argenzio: Dear colleagues of my husband Joe "Stash." Just a line to let you know that Joe is in St. Mark Village -- 2655 Nebraska Avenue, Palm Harbor, Florida 34684. This was a difficult decision for the family to make, but I, as caregiver for the past three years, was going down the tubes (so to speak). I know that if you have a moment Joe would appreciate a card or note.
Be well and continue to do what you love.
Cultural notes from Los Angeles, courtesy of Paul Zegler: Am in rehearsals for a new musical...The Rose Bowl Queens...yes, a bowling musical...sorta like Kingpin meets Best Little Whorehouse in Texas...opens March 6th at the Lounge Theatre on Santa Monica Boulevard on Theatre Row...I play the villain of the piece...the sleazy city building inspector who wants to close the bowling alley down for urban renewal....should be fun...hope anyone in the area can make it...
From Linda Cohen Greenseid: I'll see you in July. Ellen Epstein Silver was all excited to come, but her daughter Jessica and family will be visiting her that week, so Ellen is torn and doesn't know if she'll attend. But Robin Feit Baker, Dennis Shapiro, and I will, and probably so will Danny Stellabotte.
From Amy Lieberman: I forwarded last week's joke, and here was one response: Funny...sad...funny... But the real problem is: Would you really ever even consider going to a place called Gasthaus Gutenberger?
Also, from Amy, a reminder that Billy Valentine and the Stuart Elster Trio are playing every Saturday evening but March 20th at Casa Del Mar, 1910 Ocean Way, Santa Monica, from 7:00 to 11:00
A request from Zelda White Nichols: If anyone in the San Francisco area knows anyone who wants to rescue a Russian Blue cat or a Russian Blue cat mix, please contact: Epfischer@aol.com. Thanks.
A quick report from Dennis Shapiro, who knows Rockville Center: The hotels are expensive -- a couple of hundred bucks a night -- and the motels are cheaper, but they leave a lot to be desired. You get much better value at the eastern end of Long Island.
Finally, the tentatively updated list:
