Update 1-8-02

Hi,

Business first.

From Paul DeMartino:  Things here are moving forward.  This past Saturday a few of us got together for a drink---Dennis Shapiro, Danny Stellabotte, Jay Gladky, and Mark Yetman---and we had a brief trip down memory lane.  Please announce that another mini-New York reunion is being planned, for February 9th, 2002 at 1 PM.  Same restaurant as Thanksgiving's:  Lily Flanagans, 279 Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre, just in front of the Long Island Railroad station.  Their phone number's 516-536-6258.  Also please ask people to e-mail or phone me and let me know if they are interested, or that they will be coming, as I'd like to develop a head-count.  I'll also provide directions to anyone who needs them, and will attempt to contact all those who are phone only in the New York area as a way of keeping them in the loop.  Several people have already said that they would be interested in attending, and after the pictures of the last gathering were loaded on-line, there seemed to be even more interest.  Again, my e-mail address is:  PINA_1@msn.com    And my phone number is:  516-799-1590

More from Paul:  We need to move on the teacher list to determine the head-count.  Once we get a ballpark of all participating, we'll be able to determine the amount we need to cover through voluntary contributions.  Also, I saw Toni Rea's message about the damaged yearbook.  I know I'd asked about reproducing the yearbook for those interested.  Have there been any other responses to this?  Also, some people have mentioned wanting to help.  Could they please contact me, because we need to call everyone on the class list currently listed as phone only.  Some of these people may want to book rooms and make travel arrangements.
 000200000752000006D7 74C,
Also from Paul:  It turns out that Booker Gibson does have an e-mail address.  It's: bgibson@optonline.net    And that I noticed that George Gilmore's name was left off the class list.  He can be listed as phone only.

Some other stuff:

From Peggy Cooper Schwartz:  This past week I had a wonderful reunion/lunch with Judy Zinger and Marsha Churnin Soroka at City Place in West Palm Beach.  Now that I'm a Floridean, living in Juno Beach, I hope to see more of Marsha and Judy, as well as other classmates now living in the Sunshine State.  We had a lot of fun rehashing our youth in Valley Stream over lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.  I must also mention a wonderful lunch/reunion I had in New Jersey six months ago with Jane Ruzow Tiell.  Jane and I were able to hook up thanks to the Classmates Web site.  And best of all, I must mention that my dearest life-long friend and our fellow classmate Jeryl Monsees Denois, along with her husband Bayard, sat next to me and my husband at our daughter's wedding last September 2nd.  During these past two years, I've also had the pleasure of lunching in New York City with Linda Chanes Abel and Zelda Genin Kastan.  And may I say that all of these ladies are doing great, and looking Ab/Fab!!!

From Stu Borman:  I found Stuart Glasser through a Google search.  He's apparently president and chief operating officer of Casual Male Corporation, in Canton, Massachusetts.  Some phone and postal (but not e-mail) contact information for him is available at <http://biz.yahoo.com/p/c/cmalq.html>.
I spoke with Stuart today, and it wasn't too clear from that conversation on whether he planned on contacting you.  But he did express an interest in going to the reunion, mentioning that he visits Long Island frequently.  He said he was going to have his secretary print out some information from the South home page.
000200000B6000000E23 B5A,       I also had coffee this week in Princeton, New Jersey with Steve Gootzeit.  Steve looks like he's aged about a day since I last saw him, which was about 35 years ago.  In other words, he looks terrific.

From Ellen Epstein Silver:  It's been weeks since I've been on-line.  We had a great time trekking through New Mexico for six days -- Carlsbad Caverns, Roswell, Alamogordo, White Sands, and then into Las Cruces, El Paso, and Wares.  But I did  enjoy catching up on the updates on the reunion site recently, and am so glad to see how contagious the enthusiasm is becoming.  Alan and I wish everyone a very happy and healthy New Year, and I'm sure we'll be out your way before too long as Alan will start traveling again.

More RSVPs:

From Audrey Olsen in San Francisco:  Put me on the list.

From Rachael Robinson Rizzo:  I spoke to Robin Seader Cottmeyer and she'll be meeting me at the reunion, so add one more to the list.  And a very happy and healthy New Year to all.

From Gayle Ulrich Ramesh:  I plan on attending the reunion. And Jay Gladky also wants to be included on the list.  See you then.

Finally, from Terri Donohue Calamari:  Peter Rosen wrote to say he had some trouble getting the agreed upon room rate when he called the hotel to make reservations.  I left a voice mail message with Ms. Visch, the executive meeting manager, explaining the dilemma. She said it was probably a glitch, but if anyone else has this problem, to please ask to speak with Ms. Visch, at extension 3624.  When this action is taken the reservations' clerk miraculously finds the correct rate before your call is transferred.
