Update 9-5-01

Hey,

Yeah, well, the problem with being a writer, as Ken Kesey once put it, is
every so often you actually have to write something.

No, the truth is I had a small computer problem.  Some unknown, well-meaning
technician at work, trying to make the PC I've recently been using for
ReunionClass65 run faster, wiped out my filing cabinet.  That means, until I
get back to L.A. next month, I have no access to the past updates I've been
sending to newly found South folks---which spares them a lot of reading, but
also most of your bios.  Further, I've lost all the city addresses you sent
me last week, which is why they haven't been posted on the home page.  Plus,
the corrections to the Brooklyn Avenue class pictures I've been meaning to
make.

Rats.

The good news is I didn't have to re-enter all 205 of your names into my
address book, which brings us to where this should be starting.  Yep, we've
got 205 people.  Well, we've confirmed the existence or unfortunate deaths of
that many people, though probably 40 of that 205 (you don't think I'm gonna
count them right this minute) are either pending or only listed on
Classmates.com (and have never replied to my blind e-mails).  Still, 150
people is half the class and if we could get that many folks together for a
party, along with their husbands or wives (spouses is such a clumsy
wrod---along with siblings) it would be quite a party.  Especially if it
lasted three days.

I do remember the handful of recent votes that dribbled in were all for
holding the reunion in New York, which further tips the decision that way.
And, yeah, I am kind of vamping for space here.  This is a largely skippable,
Labor Day, soft news update.

Anyway, here's the one new social note my computer managed to retain.  From
Barbara Zingman Braunstein:  This past week I was in DC & got together with
Ellen Meisner Tidmore & Jane Wolff Katz--what a wonderful time we had...felt
just like 1964, not like 36 years had passed!  We all can't wait for the
reunion!
