Update 11-4-14

Hi,

What I learned this week without even going near Mulberry Street.  That’s actually in Springfield, Massachusetts, where Geisel was born and raised.

Irene Saunders Goldstein is  happy to report that “this weekend I became engaged to a most wonderful man.  As I walked through a hotel lobby in Los Angeles in 2010, headed for the first lecture at an international Jewish genealogy conference, Jerry Hantman stepped off the elevator.  He asked me where I was going – he was going to the same lecture – and we've been together ever since.  Definitely love at first sight.  We haven't set a date, but we're planning on a wedding after the first of the year.”

Very recent birthdays:  Ed Albrecht, Susan Atkins, and Eric Hilton.  Eric’s wife Gilda threw him a surprise party.  I don’t know how Ed and Susan celebrated.

But Judy Hartstone and I had a very long lunch at Café Zack’s, our newest hangout in Ventura.

Ellen Epstein Silver posted a series of photos of her newest grandchild Dylan Jacob Burr, now just over 2 weeks old.

Barbara Blitfield Pech has turned into a flapper, at least for Halloween, while on a cruise to Nassau.

Bernie Scheidt posted a new picture of himself with his dog.  I told him he can’t go wrong posting pictures with dogs, seeing our two Boxers share my tiny photo.

Paul Dickler posted 27 new photos of Japan.  I’m guessing he’s spending some time there, and I think I’m jealous.

Emily Kleinman Schreiber warned everyone not to eat too much candy on Halloween, but it’s too late, and I’m munching on the rest of the chocolate as I write.

Janet Hernandez told everybody to be safe on Halloween, turn back their clocks the next night, and enjoy November.

Valerie Nelson Gillen almost has a new kitchen.  From the photos, it’s looking as slick as her new living room.

Paulinda Schimmel posted that The Ovarian Cancer Circle – Inspired By Robin Babbini – was proud to participate in the “Love Your Body” fashion event on November 2nd.  She said it was a “Wonderful opportunity to educate and bring awareness about ovarian cancer.”

Chuck Gleichmann is rooting for the Gators.

Bill Puka was pictured freezing at the Cornell-Princeton game.

Linda Fenton Goodgold reminds everyone to vote today.

Barbara Dorin Hayden remembered a sweet, departed of 40 years, Dawna Bailey Degnan.

Barbara Peres Napolitano is happily retiring.  She reports, “It's really very exciting.  I feel like summer vacation is about to begin, and I just can't wait.”

Barbara Button McAnulty is eating Hawaiian Cheesecake Bars at The Blind Lady’s Cafe

Arlene Ainbinder Lynn ate Autumn Squash Soup.

Denise Frango Powell visited Graceland.

Barnet Kellman posted a new photo of himself, his wife Nancy, and their son Michael.  But no dog.

Amy Cohen Miller reports that her cat got kind of dirty after being washed.  But it looks cute.

Amy Kassak Bentley is prepping her son James for the college application process.

Amy Lieberman reports that Billy Valentine will be playing at the Vibrato Jazz & Grill in Los Angeles on November12th.  Billy goes on around 7:00 and 9:00.

Finally, Betsy Fels Pottruck notes that her ex-husband David has a book on The New York Times Best Seller List.  It’s called Stacking the Deck: How to Lead Breakthrough Change Against Any Odds.  Betsy writes, “Who would have thought I was once married to a Times best selling author?  Way to go, David!”
