Update 8-13-13

Hi,

First, some follow-ups from last week's People We're Still Looking For list, class of '65 version.

From Amy Miller Cohen:  There was a Francis (Frank) Bonlarron who lived on Du Bois Avenue in Valley Stream and who was in my class of 1963, but we have no leads on his whereabouts
Also, if my memory is right, Ellen Winters is the step-sister of Liz Forman, who lived on Cloverfield Road. South across from Norrie Sverdlik. I wrote Norrie to see if she'd be able to help in finding Ellen, and she forwarded your inquiry to Liz, who is Norrie's friend.

[Rich -- Now we just have to wait.]

From Robert Fiveson:  I would confirm this, but I believe Ira Levy stayed in touch with Richard McDonald and that Richard passed away a few years ago.

[Rich -- This seemed familiar information, and when I checked more carefully, I realized Richard McDonald is on the class Confirmed Death list.]

From Roz Minsky Hahn:  Here is Patty Rose's phone number.  I got it from a Temple Emanuel / Central High School friend.  Love everyone's newsy notes.

[Rich -- I was going to call Patty Rose, but then I realized I never really knew Patty Rose, and she never knew me.  So I was going to do a lot of very fast explaining before she hung up, thinking I was a telemarketer.  So if someone who knew Patty well would like to make this call, please let me know, and I'll send you her phone number.  Otherwise, I'll call and try not to embarrass myself.]

From Barbara Blitfield Pech:  A lot of information
I believe Carol-Ann Fasel passed away.
I think Ken Brown is still living near Oceanside.
Dotty Ginty has a Facebook page.
Ellen Winters' brother is in the Green Acres Facebook group
Lynne Lewis married Steve Borach from Central High School, class of '64.
I'm pretty sure I may have once mentioned that years ago my son and I went to a pedi check up, and Neil Senzer was the new kid in the practice.  I understand he has long since moved on and now is a pedi cancer specialist somewhere in the Tampa area.
And Debbie Susner Sack is in Miami.  Again, I ran into her years ago at my son's school, where she was almost his 4th grade teacher.  Her kids were friends with my son, but he's now 35.

[Rich -- Yes, sorry again:  Carol Ann Fasel is also on the class Confirmed Death list, as well as Robert Rossi.  I've got to update the People We're Still Looking For and People We've Lost Contact With lists.  And speaking of Facebook, there have been ongoing photos of the remodeling of George and Valerie Nelson Gillen's living room.  It's going to be nice, fireplace, wood floors, and all.]

Hello from Janice Williams Teeuwe.  Since Amy Miller Cohen was asking for pictures of the class of '63, I thought I'd send 2 recent photos of me for the class of '65 site.  Hope you get them.

[Rich -- I got them and forwarded them to Stu Borman, who quickly posted the pictures on the class photo site.  They're in the Faces album.  Thanks again, Stu.]

A traveling note, from Peggy Cooper Schwartz:  Shalom to everyone from the Land of Milk and Honey.  I am writing this from Israel, as my husband and I are here for 2 weeks, visiting my son, David, his wife, Noa, and our adorable granddaughter, Leah, who is 1-year-old.
This is a lovely and amazing place to visit.  Tel Aviv is a beautiful and sophisticated city set on the Mediterranean, with gorgeous beaches.  And Jerusalem is like no other place.  Whether you are Jewish , Christian, or Moslem, the historical and Biblical history here is astonishing.  In Israel, you can explore sites and places that go back for thousands of years.  There are also Roman and Greek ruins to see.  The city of Caesarea has a gorgeous Roman amphitheater, where they still hold concerts.  And the acoustics are
perfect.

Next-to-last, a neighborly update on the class of '63's October reunion, from Amy Miller Cohen:
We are up to 14 New Yearbook entries, so please keep them coming in.  I plan to send the Yearbook document just to those who've contributed, so if you want to read it, send your new information in.  Again, if you need the questions as a guide, please write me at: YmaRellim @ aol . com  (remove the spaces).
I can always add more information as time goes by, but I would love to get most of the entries into a readable format by the reunion.  If you have writer's block when it comes to writing about yourself, just send a few photos or drawings with your name and contact information.  But, of course, people would rather read about what you've been up to in the past 50 years.
We're still at 30 reservations for the reunion in New York City on October 12th, and we've opened up the event to people from other classes.  So far, 2 have signed up.  Judy Birken Gertler has suggested that those of you in touch with other classmates who haven't responded give your buddies a call and tell them you'd like them to join us at the party.  There will be an announcement for the reunion on the South High Alumni Facebook page and in the e-mailed Alumni Bulletin.  Meanwhile, Gail Kimmel Potash and Caryl Snapperman Avery have been hard at work making the arrangements with the Cornell Club.
If you are coming to the reunion and want to  suggest -- or better yet organize -- a second gathering, for Saturday evening, just let me know.  If you want to stay at the Cornell Club Friday and/or Saturday night, let me know that, too.  You can see what the rooms look like by going to the Cornell Club web site at:  cornellclubnyc . com  (again, delete the spaces).  Prices for  overnight accommodations for members' guests are available by phoning the club.  The price includes a very full breakfast.
As always, please consider putting in some time to help out with the search for the missing members of our class.  Thanks to those of you who have already offered to help with the searching and to Judy Birken Gertler and Peter Gelabert for doing all the work on the Excel spread sheets.

[Rich -- Finally, yesterday was the anniversary of my grandmother's birthday.  She would have been either 131 or 133.  She always fibbed about her age.]
