Update 7-23-13

Hi,

A quick update:

First, that photo that Amy Miller Cohen mentioned last week -- of Toby Cogen's 1956 birthday party -- is now on the class photo site, courtesy of Amy and Stu Borman.  Amy sent another picture, of her talking on two black 50's desk phones at once, probably inspired by photos in Life magazine, which probably inspired "The Telephone Hour" in Bye Bye Birdie.  If Amy sends that photo to Stu, then everyone else can see it, but that's her choice.
Amy also wrote:  I read the New York Times article on nostalgia and feel vindicated for using Life Cycle Stages and phototherapy in my work.  It just feels great to have a sense that other psychologists find that this is a vital tool.  Here's to connections to our past, while living fully and facing to the future!
And she added:  There are now 29 people coming to the class of '62 reunion party in October.

Pam Levy Eisenberg wrote:  Amy Kassak Bentley just mentioned that you had a picture with my sister, Bari Levy.  I would love to see it.
Pam added that she lives in Ft. Lauderdale, as do her parents.  Her sister Lynn lives in Chicago.  So for anyone having regional South gatherings, please let her know.  Meanwhile, Amy Miller Cohen has passed Bari's picture on to Pam.

And Amy Kassak Bentley wrote:  Dr. Ruth Miller was our pediatrician after Dr. Harry Gibel on Cloverfield Lane.  Dr. Miller first had her practice on Rockaway Avenue, south of Sunrise, in a strip of brick professional offices. In addition to Cliff, she has a son Kenny, class of '68, who was very close friends with my sister Marian.  He spent many hours at our house.  The Millers has 3 boys, so there was also a younger son, maybe class of '75?  I'm not positive.
    Dr. Miller pierced my ears!

[Rich -- I didn't remember a third son, just Cliff and Kenny.]

Marc Fishman wrote:  Ruth Miller used to spend the winters in Florida.  I saw her last year while visiting with my father, who is a spry 95.  Ruth looked great, and both Ruth and my father have not lost any of their mental faculties.  Ruth no longer comes to Florida.  I think she moved back to her home at 4 Eastwood Lane to live with her son Cliff.
Marc later added:  She moved back so Cliff could take care of her.  She was also lonely coming to Florida without her husband, who died a while back.  While Ruth walked more slowly, she could walk well, and her voice and speech were almost the way they were 50 years ago.

Eric Hilton wrote:  I just wanted to send you a letter I found on my computer, which I wrote to Robin Feit Baker and Gayle Ulrich Ramesh many years ago.  We all got together at a mini-reunion near Orlando because Barbara Blitfield Pech was visiting her son at his school.  I don’t know what I was thinking while writing this, but we all became very close friends after that weekend of bonding.  I just thought people would like to see this.
I’m sorry I was not able to make it to New York to attend Robin’s funeral.  But, I have a September wedding to photograph in New York and will try to get together with a few of our classmates and toast and remember Robin.

    The letter:

    Hi Gayle & Robin!!!!!!!
I am writing to both of you, to save time, and so I won’t have to type this two (2) times (if you girls don’t mind sharing this letter!!)
It was great speaking to you (Robin) tonight, and I (me) am looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!
But I am sad that you (Gayle) will not be there!  But at least you and I can try to get together in the near future.
I know that you (Gayle) will have a wonderful time with Robin!  I know that you (Robin) will have a wonderful time with her (Gayle).  WOW!!!!!  This is very hard to write to two women at the same time in one letter!!!!!  But it saves on stamps, and I can get all of my thoughts out (as useless as they may be).
It’s a good thing that Barbara called you (Robin) when she did, or I (me) would probably still be on the phone, and my (me) phone bill would be about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$  (OY!)  Just like when I (me) call you (Gayle).  I truly enjoy speaking to her (you) (Gayle)!  Boy, this is too confusing to write, and it hurts my head!  I need to lie down!
    Hope you are all well!!!
P.S. I scanned the photos that you (Robin) sent me and tried to make them a little better. Then, I sent them to Rich Eisbrouch for the class photo site.  I am attaching a copy of one of the shots, along with the note I sent him.  I don’t know if you girls remember the woman and man lying next to us by the pool, when I was getting these drinks, but they were very scary people.

[Rich -- Finally, I always thought that Death By Chocolate was something of a joke.  But I've been snacking on about 3 ounces a day of Trader Joe's 72% dark chocolate, and my doctor just pointed out that I can't do that.  Dark chocolate contains too many of something called purines, which raise a bit too high something called uric acid, and you don't want to do that to your joints and kidneys.  So either no chocolate any more or Allen Moss starts to edit this newsletter.]
